SIMONTON WINDOWS REVIEWS

If you are looking for high rated home replacement windows, then Simonton Windows are getting high rates from consumer window reviewers who want safe windows that are easy to install and clean. Simonton replacement windows are built to protect homes from weather extremes like hurricanes as well as keeping vandals and burglars at bay. If you want solid, safe home windows, reviewers say invest in Simonton Windows and sleep well knowing that you’ve bought peace of mind.
These windows are great!
IВ really love my Simonton windows.В  From the start, we noticed a difference in our electric bill.В  Plus, they help to reduce noise.В  I also love the fact that I can open them from the top-means my cats cannot knock out the screens like they did with our 25+ year old windows.В
Simonton Windows are very good and have a great reputation. Distribution is not the best though. Delivery is quick. Price is a little higher than most. Easy to install. EnergyStar rated so you can get a tax deduction this year. Colors are limited as are the interior finishes.

We replaced all of our windows on our previous home with Simonton windows and couldn’t have been happier. We just recently sold our home and even the realtor who sold the house told her client that “these are really nice windows”. Even though we had a split level home, our heating and cooling bills were unbelievable. They really cut out the noise and I felt secure. We enjoyed them for about 7 years and never had a speck of trouble. We are getting ready to move into a new home and I know the windows aren’t nowhere near the quality we had. These windows are quite pricey but shop around. After buying ours, we discovered we could have bought them for a lot less so get estimates. You will never regret a purchase of these windows.

We purchased 10 Simonton double hung and mulled twin double hung windows. They were affordable, easy to clean, and look good. The problems started from day one with the windows. We were in the home stretch of our dairy barn renovation, turning it into a house, and had all the sheet rock up and painting almost 100% completed. We decided to go down to our almost completed house during a bad storm to see how everything was going. We found that 6 of our windows were poring with water all over our new and freshly painting sheet rock. The four windows that weren’t leaking were sheltered by the porch. Needless to say we spent every rainy night at our house ringing out towels from four house holds to help save our sheet rock. They without much questioning sent replacement windows. The next good storm we got they were all still leaking. They sent someone guys from the company to come see what was going on. They couldn’t find anything wrong with the installation, they actually complemented it, and said they would send replacement windows and this time pay for the re-installation. We have now gotten our fist hard rain since last summer and we still have three windows leaking. So here we go with round four…..

There is a mixture of Simonton and Andersen windows in the house we bought recently. The Andersen windows are tight and warm. I can sit in front of a 10′x5′ wall of windows in my family room and be snug and warm. But the Simonton windows are cold like a single-pane window..

I have had very bad experience with Simonton. I purchased a new house with all Simonton windows and the first year 2 windows leaked. Simonton had a contractor come out and try to fix them. The contractor caulked the windows in an area were he said the “factory missed that”. Well that worked for a few weeks until it rained again. This time the water literally poured in one of the windows and soaked my wall and carpet. Well now they brought a Simonton representative to look at the windows and they decided the first caulking performed by the contractor was poorly done, so they caulked it again. You guessed it next time it rained same problem. This time Simonton replaced the windows and the builder had to fix dry wall damage and paint. Now 2 years later it appears that the new windows were assembled incorrectly because the UV protection has now turned into what looks like mold. The contractor came back and said Simonton will warrentee the window but I will need to pay $175.00 for installation. So I’m paying again. Simonton windows are poor quality in my opinion and the customer service is below par. I will never use them again in any of my houses.

Looks like the Anderson reps have too much time on their hands, it appears they are making up stories about Simonton. They are all within a close timeframe and this is the only place on the internet that I’ve seen bad reviews on them.
I’m choosing Simonton because my carpenter recommended them, he put them in his house. He’s been working in new construction for 30 years. When I saw them I loved their functionality, quality construction and price. The salesman said if he were going to install vinyl windows in his home, he would also choose Simonton. We looked at the Anderson windows, they’re nice but a bundle of money. Simonton has all the features we want and more for a better price.

WE HAD 12 SIMONTON WINDOWS INSTALLED . FROM DAY ONE, WE HAD PROBLEMS ,THE TRACK ON ONE HAD TO BE REPLACED . THE WINDOWS IN THE WINTER ARE TERRIBLE ,THE COLD AIR RADIATES RIGHT THROUGH THE GLASS ,WE CAN’T SIT BY THE BAY WINDOW WITHOUT A SWEATER ON ,IT’S AWFUL AND THAT WINDOW ONLY COSTS $1800.00 HMMMM . IF I COULD DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN I WOULD NEVER INSTALL A SIMONTON WINDOW . ONE OTHER THING THE WINDOW LOCKS KEEP COMING LOOSE AND WE HAVE TO CONSTANTLY TIGHTEN THEM . NOT HAPPY IN NEW JERSEY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

I had Simonton windows installed in my last two houses and have been completely happy with them. One of the best warrantys on the market and if you have a reputable contractor (who backs there work) install them for you, you should have no problems. The first home I had them installed in was a small town house 6 double hungs and a three panel sliding glass door. They were not only very effective but great looking as well. The house I am currently at is a rambler style home with 18 sliders windows 4 picture windows, and 1 double casement window. I decided to upgrade to the impressoins series window triple pain glass double pro solar glass with krypton gas. I think if your going to invest in somthing this substantial you may as well do it right the first time. Not only did it save energy cost but noise reduction was substantial. I cant even here my neighbors dog barking any more. Great windows, would not consider anything else with my experience. I dont know what you guys are talking about being cold next to your window Id doublecheck and make shore your contractor installed the right window.

I got Simonton double-hung impact windows last year (I live near the coast in Florida). I love the windows, except I have a LOT of trouble opening them. I am not young, and I find they are extremely heavy, and when I have to reach to open them, such as the one over the kitchen sink, I do not have the strength to get good leverage, and can only open it a couple inches. For the windows with furniture in front, such as a chest or the bed, I have to get on one side and my husband has to get on the other side, since they must be opened with equal pressure on both sides or they will come loose. Most of the windows have not been opened since they were installed. Any suggestions?

I had 2 different installations of 9 Simonton windows. First installation -ordered in October. Installed in January. Windows were hard to open and still are. Installer put in nails on outside sills and are ugly. Second installer did nice job finishing windows. NEITHER installer put in enough insullation in the old transomes and one room with double window is absolutely freezing. I have to have a space heater in room. I had insulation in first contract and the amount they put in was paltry. The windows were installed last year and the year before and there has been no heating savings from the 80 year old windows with storms.

I’m baffled buy what I’ve read in the comments of this page. I read about complaints on Simonton windows with water gushing through them and rooms being cold after the window insulation, totally baffled! What’s the reputation of the contractor installing the product? Do people research the work of these guys who they have doing the window replacement jobs. I’m very satisfied with the Simonton product and I work for a building supplier in Northern Pennsylvania that sells these windows. Northern Pa weather is across the board from wind chills in the negative figures to tempteratures exceeding 90 degrees at times. Hard rains, strong winds, powerful sun, not once have I had a serious complaint about any of the Simonton products I’ve sold. Yes, there have been complaints but all of which were satisfied by Simonton. I don’t care what product is out there, you’re going to have those who complain and have not been satisfied. Take it from someone who does not work for Simonton but enjoys selling the product and is comfortable with the service that Simonton offers. After nearly 200,000 dollars in window sales for 2009 and have not had to fight with Simonton on any of the MINOR issues I’ve had, I’ll stick with Simonton! As far as the comment about not trusting JD Power & Associates customer satisfaction report, hogwash, it is exactly what it says, “customer satisfaction”, which means they do surveys and any contractor that doesn’t take a customers opinion on the product they want installed needs to continue shopping the “depot” !

I have Simonton Storm Breaker Plus windows and we have gone trought 4 installs and they have leaked for different reasons. From extremely poor installation provided by contractors of Home Depot to poor quality installation components. The snap trim is a constant problem and is there scape goat for unexplainable leaks. The product does not live up to the claims that are made. I have had a small leak that I would not have noticed except for the fact I would not let the contractor install the sill on the inside. Sure enough there is a small leak during every rain. If you think you do not have leaks from your Simonton windows you are just unable to see them. Believe me!!!

We are building a modular with Pro-Built homes in coastal Virginia on the Chesapeake Bay. We want casement windows and will need about 20 to 25 of varying sizes, plus 2 sliding doors. Will Simonton be a good choice for vinyl windows in this home? If not, what other recommendations? The modular manufacturer also offers 7-D Windows (never heard of), Andersen, Silverline and PlyGem.
