Choosing Bedroom Window Treatments

September 13th, 2007

Most people love their bedrooms and use them as a retreat from the work day world. Therefore it is important to remember this when you are choosing bedroom window treatments. The windows can add to the ambiance of your room and bring that cozy feeling you’re looking for to life or maybe you want to bring in the outside with soft flowing sheers blowing in the breeze. Whatever you decide you can create a whole new look for your retreat at home by adding the right window treatments.

Regardless of what kind of coverings you decide to use there are ideas that you can come up with to get the look you want. First you want to decide how much light and how much privacy you will need. These are two very important factors to address before you start your selection. Some people like lots of light while others will only opt for privacy. This of course also depends on where your windows are located or where you are located yourself. If you are in the middle of a city then it is likely you want privacy unless you’re in a building that towers above everyone else but if you are in a very rural setting then light would be the better choice for the scenery.

Another consideration would be the size of your window. If your window is small it is better to use light colored treatments versus dark ones. These can be heavy enough to give you privacy yet light enough to make your room look larger. The use of color is also important but if you’re unsure of what colors to use then mix neutral colors which can give you a striking window treatment. All you really need when choosing your colors is a color wheel and that should tell you exactly what will suit your needs to have the best dressed windows in town.
